To all new visitors to Norwich Hackspace website, be reassured that the space is up-and-running full-time for members, and visitors are welcome on our open days. We don't update this site very often as we use Slack for our communication within the club but be reassured that we are an active community.
Recent news is that we are on the hunt for a new space for our metal-working area as we have lost the use of the shared space we have had for a few years now. As demand was growing, it became too hard to share with other users of a much larger space so we have closed the metal-working facilities for now while we look for an independent space.
There continues to be a keen interest in 3D printing and the Bambu machines we have are very popular and easy to use. The lasercutters are also well-used and running Lightburn software.
One of the spring group projects was to recreate the Norfolk and Waveney Mind 'squiggle' logo into a 3d version that could be transported around the county to well-known locations and photographed to promote the invaluable service the the charity offers to people with mental health concerns. It was quite a challenge but a small team of Hackspace members made it work and a metre-high 'sculpture' that was light but also self-supporting was created. It did its job in raising the profile of Norfolk & Waveney Mind and they will keep it for future use.
