Laser engraving anodised Aluminium

Our laser cutter cannot cut metal but it can engrave anodised aluminum. We haven't tried any so were keen to give it a try. Barny has a MacBook and found a line drawing of a engine. We had a brief discussion about heat disapation, the likeihood of frying pixels and how hard it would be to take it all apart. With zero solid information we decided it would probably all be ok.

We ran it at a fast speed of 400 and a low power of 15 with the hope that the heat would dissipate very quickly over the large surface area.

Indeed, it etched very nicely and once finished the whole top area was stone cold. Flipping it open we were greated with an eager glow and working screen. Phew
